Behind the Brand – Getting to know Rebecca from Cocoon Boutique

Today we’re delighted to bring you an interview with the gorgeous Rebecca from Cocoon Boutique, a new online store which specialises in beautiful children’s furniture and decor.

Tell us a bit about yourself…
I am wife to my gorgeous husband Tim and mother of our two beautiful children; Lego-mad Mitchell (8) and our resident Uno champion, Lara (4).  We live in Gawler, South Australia.
I am also Co-Owner of Cocoon Boutique.  I guess you could say that I take control of product development/research and sourcing, marketing and sales – while my husband looks after ‘the books’, logistics and watches spending…  he is an accountant through and through.

What can we expect from Cocoon Boutique this year?
We will continue to enjoy offering customers our beautiful range of nursery furniture, children’s beds and wall decals, while behind the scenes we will be working hard on designs for our new range.  We hope to launch these late 2012/early 2013.

What product couldn’t you live without?
I would have to say my coffee machine.  Sad, but true.
I really do look forward to sitting down at my desk after dropping Lara at kindy to do some work.  Somehow it seems like a treat to be working if I can indulge in a delicious ‘skinny flat white’ at the same time.  It’s a part of my day that I really look forward to.  I can sit and focus on the business and enjoy a yummy treat all to myself.

What are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Lara – my adorable 4 year old.  We are certain she can talk underwater. She is amazing us with her mathematical skills this month ‘Mum, you know, 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1 really does equal 8’. Ever-patient Mitchell simply listens on and is quick to offer his expert assistance if she gets stuck – he is in Year 2 now and ever so clever.

How do you like to spend your spare time?
… like any mother I think I only dream about ‘spare time’, however, if I were to have a few hours to myself I think I would love to indulge in some craft or baking – or even tackle some of the 50 or so projects I have ear-marked on Pinterest.  Now there’s a time-waster… that site is incredible!

Where do you see yourself and your store in 5 years?
On a personal level I hope that my family and I are continuing to enjoy great health, fun with family and friends and finally making some time for travel.  Having said that – maybe we need to be saving for a pool.  I’ve just been summonsed outside by Mitch to see Miss Lara sitting in a freezing tub of water ‘going for a swim’.  At least she is resourceful….

Professionally; our long-term goal is to offer our line of furniture to retailers. To see our products finally in a retail store would be the biggest thrill.  We also hope to move into bigger warehouse premises – a new space will enable us to create some beautiful display rooms.

Your perfect day would be…
… 48 hours long.  (and I wouldn’t feel tired 7 hours in)The first half would be spent relaxing with my family.  Maybe being beaten in a game of miniature golf or Uno, followed by a trip to the movies and then a scrumptious dinner at Sushi Train? The other half of my day would be spent indulging in some of that ‘spare time’.  I could finally sort out the 100s of photos I have on disc of the children, start one of my many quilting projects or even get started on those Pinterest ideas…. ahhh the mind boggles.

Hot tip!! Being the generous girl she is, Rebecca is now offering FREE SHIPPING on their range of single beds for a limited time! Woohoo! ~ Sue
