Since starting Style My Child, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of meeting some amazing people. One such person is Julia, owner of rudy and the dodo, who happily took time out of her busy day to have a chat…

Tell us a bit about yourself
I am a mama of 3 lovely boys (6, 4 and 1), wife of one lovely man and run my own terribly fabulous little online business, rudy and the dodo, from home.

What can we expect from rudy and the dodo this year?
We will continue to bring fabulous wooden toys, quirky gifts, decor and accessories from around the globe to our customers. We’ve become known for our gorgeous range of creative kits and French goodies in particular and will continue to surprise and delight our customers with these (and more!)

What product couldn’t you live without?
Hmmm … toss up between I-Phone and my Car. Both boring choices but essential to keep our busy little family humming along.

What are you listening to in the car at the moment?
A few weeks ago we took our boys into the city and, whilst there, we saw some buskers in Pitt Street Mall. They were Jack Man Friday. My 6 year old purchased his first CD that day for $10 – a very cool little album called “Foxes” which we listen to over and over.

How do you like to spend your spare time?
If I’m not with my boys, I love doing anything creative – particularly interior design. I am forever faffing around the house, changing decor, adding things here and there. I’m also seriously addicted to Pinterest and any show, magazine or blog about design!

Where do you see yourself and your store in 5 years?
Enjoying a healthy balance between business and family. I envisage employing staff and the store being the “go to” place to shop for fabulous gifts for little individuals.

Your perfect day would be….
A big breakfast at a fabulous cafe, a day on my Nan’s farm with all my boys, followed by a fabulous spicy curry dinner and a good red, shared with hubby and friends.
