Road Tested – Eeni Meeni Miini Moh’s Quilted Sleeping Cocoon

Road Test - Eeni Meeni Miini Moh's Quilted Sleeping Cocoon

Setting the Scene:
Before Lucas discovered how to roll over, he was a great sleeper. He would go to bed after his last feed at 11.00pm and not wake up again until 5.30am.

Lucas aka Style My Child Product Tester

He would still be snugly swaddled and life was good. Lucas’ newly developed skills of wriggling and rolling coincided with the weather starting to cool down on a night. He started waking up fairly often and was no longer nicely wrapped or sleeping as soundly. In response to this, additional clothing layers were added to ensure he stayed nice and warm (based on the habits of my three other children, I knew that adding blankets were not going to cut it. Little Houdini was going to escape whether I liked it or not!). So, as Winter approached and the nights grew colder still, I went in search of a sleeping bag/cocoon that would ensure he stayed warm and we all received a good night’s sleep…

The Chosen Product:
eeni meeni miini moh’s Quilted Sleeping Cocoon (in Cloud Blue) $89.95

The Testers:
7.5 month old Lucas (the youngest of the Style My Child crew – pictured above) and Sue (proud Mum!).

Why this particular product?
I’ve always been an admirer of eeni meeni miini moh. Their brand screams quality to me and I love their style. It’s one of those brands that I know and trust. Being rated a 2.5 TOG (see below for more info on TOG), I felt it would allow Lucas to be comfortable without getting too hot. These features also won me over -

What is TOG?

The Test:
Firstly, let me say that I love to receive a package in the mail. I especially love when it looks this good.

The package

Once unwrapped, I immediately noticed how soft and luxurious the product felt (you know, so soft that you rub it on your face).

As with everything new, I threw it in the washing machine on gentle cold wash. When dry, the cocoon looked exactly the same as when I had first received it – no difference in feel, colour or size (that I could see).

I had high expectations for this product and it did not disappoint. I found that the cocoon was easy to dress Lucas in thanks to the long, high quality zip and the generous fit.

Lucas in his emmm sleeping cocoon

He generally wears it just before his last feed and I take it off when he wakes in the morning. As a result, there have been very few nappy changes while he has been wearing it. When the need did arise, it was easy to change him.

Since wearing the cocoon, Lucas has slept for much longer periods and is less restless. When he does wake in the middle of the night, his quilt (which I place over his cocoon) is still covering him and his hands and feet are lovely and warm. This suggests to me that he did not wake because he was cold.

The cocoon has been washed numerous times now and still looks and feels as good as new (it does take quite some time to dry but I imagine this is typical of all cocoons). Lucas in his cocoonHe seems very comfortable in it and I believe it has actually become a visual sign to him that it is time for bed.

The Bottom Line (score out of five)
Quality – 5/5
Features – 5/5
Care, Wash and Wear – 4/5
Value for Money – 4/5
Australian Made – No
Organic – No

We like: The look, feel, the price point, the quality and its durability. It fulfilled its purpose of keeping Lucas warm so he did not wake constantly throughout the night.
We dislike: Nothing besides the fact that it is not made in Australia. Having said that, the price point would be much higher if it was, possibly excluding it as an option.
